Horse Riding
When you go horseback riding with us you experience the rolling hills, trout-filled dams and meandering streams, all while feeling the wind in your hair and the sound of hoofbeats on the route.
Our horses are well trained and trustworthy, giving even the most novice rider the confidence to enjoy a ride in the Dullstroom countryside. Our Equestrian Centre is a popular destination for short weekend riding workshops for the more experienced rider.
Hiking & Running
Dullstroom offers high performance athletes a unique training opportunity due to its altitude of around 2,150m metres above sea level at Dunkeld Country & Equestrian Estate. Whether you’re training for your next marathon or mountain-bike race there is no better place to stay and train and it’s not unusual to bump into Comrades winners as they train for their next marathon. With the second highest peak in South Africa, being only 2,5 hours outside of Johannesburg or Pretoria Dullstroom is convenient location for a dedicated session of high-altitude training.
Quad Biking
For an exhilarating experience book a slot for one person or up to a group of 10 people per outing, arrangements can also be made for larger groups.
Most of our quads are fully automatic and easy to ride for the novice, we adjust the pace of the route based on the riders’ level of comfort and experience.
Adventure Centre
Looking for a fun activity in Dullstroom, why not show-off your skills in a game of miniature golf, also known as minigolf, crazy golf, or putt–putt. A round of putt-putt is always a fun time with the family. Our Putt-Putt (mini-golf) course is situated at the Dunkeld Country & Equestrian Estate Adventure Centre.
Area Attraction
While visiting Dullstroom with the boys or family you can’t miss the opportunity to play Highlands Gate golf course and if you are staying with us, we will be able to arrange your game and take care of your personal needs.
The exclusive Highland Gate golf course is one of the newer clubs in the area and is the brainchild of South Africa’s darling, Ernie Els. The grandeur of the scenic countryside is reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands with expansive views stretching for many miles. The course itself provides a real test for golfers of every level, with multiple tees, strategically placed hazards and tricky elevations.
Recently the course has also been ranked as number 15 out of 100 in Golf Digest’s Top 100 Golf Course Rankings making it a definite bucket list item.
Mountain Biking
If you are an avid mountain biker you might be looking for a bit more distance on your ride. There are several other mountain biking trails within Dullstroom for you to explore.
Bird Watching
The Dullstroom Bird of Prey Centre is a great venue for getting up close and personal with a number of raptor species. Established in 1997, the centre serves as a refuge for these precious prey species. Here you can view flight displays and take part in handling days or just relax and enjoy a meal amongst the lovely scenery and birds.
